GARDEN FESTIVAL 2010
22 May - 20 June 2010 Baden, Laxenburg and Bad Vöslau as well as the entire Thermae region will turn into a meeting place of garden enthusiasts!
A comprehensive programme covering the themes "roses", "fun and play" and "water" will convey the passion for gardening by means of spectacular events and exhibitions.
BADEN
- ROSES
The largest rosarium in Austria in the Doblhoff Park will set the stage for the activities and events during the course of the festival. Baden has a rose tradition which dates back more than two centuries and the rose blossoming atop more than 20,000 stems delights innumerable viewers year and again.
LAXENBURG - FUN AND PLAY
In the spirit of the Habsburgers' tendency to use their Summer Residence for fun and play (and to repose as well of course), the festival activities shall take place at various locations. On the one hand, within the 280 ha Schlosspark [Palace Garden], on the other, on the exquisitely revitalised Schlossplatz [Palace Square] with its historic facades and a newly designed park between the Kaiserbahnhof [Emperor Train Station] and the former Klosterwirtschaft [monastery] - focussing on the theme 'health in the days of the emperor'.
BAD VÖSLAU - WATER
For the four festival weeks Bad Vöslau will embrace and present the theme "water". This motto ties in wonderfully with the town's century old tradition as a health spa, i.e. as a place of water. The activities will take place at two main venues: the thermal bath and the Schlosspark. The surrounding region of both locations will also be included in the programme and the theme "water" will be made tangible and perceptible throughout the entire town.
